Showers of Blessing

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

God desires His children to have a pure heart. As the Word says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Our thoughts and our deeds should be in line with God. Psalm 51:6 tells us “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts…” When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we put off the old man with his deeds and put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created us. The Lord says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” Ezekiel 36:26.

God expects every believer to have a pure and a circumcised heart. The circumcision should happen within us. God hates “a heart that devises wicked plans” Proverbs 6:18. But He is good to those who have a clean heart. We read in Psalm 73:1, “Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart.”

Proverbs 11:20 tells us “Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless in their ways are His delight.” As Christians we ought to conduct ourselves like born again Christians whose hearts are set on the things of God.

As Christians, let us be pure in heart and have a pure conscience in our day to day dealing with others. For the Word says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things” Matthew 12:35.

Showers of Blessing

“Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Abraham started tithing when God never told him about it. Genesis 14:20 says “…And he gave him a tithe of all.” Jesus taught His disciples about tithing and it is still applicable for all believers. We need to tithe of all the income we receive. I have heard believers ask “Do we have to tithe for this too?” Believers do not forget God is watching us all the time. We can fool people but not God. So be extra cautious when it comes to tithing. If we need a super natural financial blessing in our lives we need to tithe. In Genesis 8:22 we read While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest… shall not cease.”

“And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord” Leviticus 27:30.

Malachi 3:8-10 says, “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Why should we inherit a curse for not tithing?

From my experience, if we are not faithful in our tithes we will end up in serious financial trouble. How can you receive something for which you have not been faithful? I have seen people very faithful in tithing for small amounts but when it comes to thousands or millions they do not follow the same measure. That too is a problem. Be faithful in your tithing. We read in 2 Corinthians 9:6 “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Beloved, how can we expect a blessing in our lives when we have eaten up the seed which we were to sow?

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

“Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord…” 2 Kings 20:2

These are the words of King Hezekiah in response to the words of the Lord which were made known to him through Prophet Isaiah. The Lord heard Hezekiah’s prayer and healed him from the sickness and as a bonus added fifteen years to his life 2 Kings 20:6. The prayer and the tears of Hezekiah moved God’s decision. What a compassionate God we have!

We read in Psalm 118:17, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord…” Whenever I had the opportunity to pray for people who were in the last moments of their life, I have prayed quoting this verse from the Holy Bible and much to my amazement they have all recovered from their dire circumstances back to life and are still alive. The confession of this verse healed them from their sickness as we read in Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Apostle Paul was “stoned by the people and was dragged out of the city, supposing him to be dead” Acts 14:19. In verse 20 we read that “he rose up and went into the city.” Paul refused to die because he knew God had chosen him and had great plans and it had to be fulfilled by him Acts 9:15. When God has chosen you to be His ambassador to fulfill His plans, He has invested so much in you and you can’t fail Him. He knows you can do it and you alone can do it. Even if the whole world is against you be strong, “because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” 1 John 4:4.

I have heard men of God advice believers to keep their affairs in order (bank matters, will etc.) and to get ready to die quoting the words of Prophet Isaiah to King Hezekiah. I am surprised at these teachings because it can often mislead people. In Ezekiel 18:32 we read “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”

Therefore, let us run the race which God has kept for us faithfully throwing away every negative word or circumstance which discourages us. Jeremiah 1:19 tells us “For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.” I know He is there for you and me. Hallelujah!

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25

Our God is a God of restoration. Whatever has been robbed of you by the devil will be restored by the Lord. The good days of your youth, your wealth, your family life and your health which was stolen by the devil will be restored by the Lord. We know what happened to Job. The devil destroyed whatever he had but at the end God restored twice of everything he lost. Job 42:10 says, “And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” The same is applicable for you and me. Hold on to your faith and He will fulfil all His promises. Numbers 23:19 tells us, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do?

Showers of Blessing

The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; Genesis 39:2

Jacob’s excessive love for Joseph and the tunic of many colors given to him by his father made his brothers hate him. His two dreams were much more than they could bear. Joseph believed the dreams as visions given to him by the Lord and waited for it to come. When he reached the house of Potiphar, the Egyptian realised that the Lord was with Joseph because everything he did prospered in his hand (Genesis 39:3). Potiphar and his field were blessed because of Joseph. The anointing on Joseph made the difference.

When Joseph was transferred to the prison, the keeper of the prison also had a supernatural favor on him (Genesis 39:21). Because of the presence of the Lord with Joseph, he was entrusted with the entire prisoners (Genesis 39:22). God knows His children and He makes roads in the wilderness for those whose hearts are loyal to Him. “He works for His children and no one can reverse it” (Isaiah 43:13).

Pharaoh realized that Joseph had the wisdom and the Spirit of God in him when he interpreted his dreams which were impossible for the wise men of Egypt. Joseph gave glory to God for the interpretation of the dreams. He was promoted to the position of Governor of Egypt because the Lord was with him and he did nothing to displease Him.

Beloved, hold on to the visions and prophecies the Lord has given you. It does not matter where you are, HE WHO CALLED YOU IS FAITHFUL AND HE WILL FULFILL THE PROMISES CONCERNING YOU no matter what the circumstances are. Although they tarry, it will take place.

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

“For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south.

But God is the judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.” Psalm 75:6-7

God exalts people who are humble and whose hearts are devoted to Him. Joshua, Moses’ assistant (Exodus 24:13) was very dedicated to the Lord and did not depart from the tabernacle Exodus 33:11. We read in Psalm 53:2 “God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.” Whenever Moses went up the mountain to meet God, Joshua was at the bottom of the mountain praying for Moses. He brought a good report about Canaan and was chosen by God to enter Canaan because he “wholly followed the Lord” Numbers 32:12.

Joshua succeeded Moses as the next leader to take His people “to divide the land as an inheritance” which He swore to their fathers to give them (Numbers 34:17). The Lord told Moses to encourage and strengthen and to inaugurate Joshua and it says he was a man “full of the spirit of wisdom” Deuteronomy 34:9.

After the death of Moses, God spoke to Joshua (Joshua 1:2-9) and it was a great promise He gave in verse 5 “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” And in verse 8 He gives him a command “not to depart from the Book of the Law but to meditate in it day and night, and to observe to do according to all that is written in it to make his way prosperous and to have good success.” God exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life (Joshua 4:14). He served God in sincerity and in truth which made him say “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

During these days, we often come across several Christians and ministries who struggle to exalt and project themselves in their own ways which is not in line with God. The Word says, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” 1 Peter 5:6

Showers of Blessing

‘…and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ Deuteronomy 1:31

Although these are the words of Moses to the Israelites it is appropriate for us in all aspects. The Lord literally “brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps Psalm 40:2. And I would proudly say this rock is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has fed us with the finest wheat all these years Psalm 147:14 and we lacked nothing as we see in His word “but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” Psalm 34:10. He has carried us as a man carries his son all these years and He is still doing it. Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry and will deliver you.”

“He also taught us, and said to us: “Let your heart retain My words; Keep My commands and live. Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth” Proverbs 4:4-5. As the Lord told us it has been our joy to meditate in His word at all times. “And He has put His words in our mouth; and He has covered us with the shadow of His hand” Isaiah 51:16. Whenever we prayed to Him during a crucial time He answered us instantly as it says in His word, “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear” Isaiah 65:24. He has been such a loving God to us all these years. He has been a sun and shield to us and has not withheld any good thing from us. As His word says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” Psalm 84:11

He has kept on telling us that “we are precious in His sight” Isaiah 43:4 and “not to fear, for He is with us” all the time Isaiah 43:5. How can we ever stop praising our God for all the good things He has done for us!

“My God will never forget me because He has inscribed me on the palms of His hands” Isaiah 49:16.

This is our testimony and I pray earnestly that the Lord Bless all those who come across these words on this blog. Beloved, let your life be a blessing for others.

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

God created us to be a blessing to the entire people who live on the face of the earth. Words of blessing must come out of our mouth which is going to be a blessing and a comfort for the people in sorrow. Also, our mouths should be filled with praises for the Lord. 2 Chronicles 20:19 tells us,” then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high. In 2 Chronicles 20:22 it says,” Now when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. When we start praising the Lord, the enemy’s fortress will be destroyed and they will flee before us in seven ways. Now we have eight doors open before us.

Proverbs 4:24 says, “Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.” As Christians (believers) we need to be very careful with our words. We are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in us. So we need to be holy. Matthew 5:37 says, “And let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” Moreover, death and life are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21. So let praises and blessing come out of our mouth all the time.

God wants our thoughts and our meditations in line with God’s Word so that He can bless us. The Lord hates a lying tongue, a heart that devises wicked plans and a false witness who speaks lies. Proverbs 6:16

Joshua 1:8 tells us to meditate on the Word of God day and night and do what the Word says to make our way prosperous and to have good success. Moreover, as we read in Psalm 1:3 that those who delight in the law of the Lord shall be blessed like a tree planted by the waters whose leaves will not wither and whatever they do shall prosper. What a wonderful promise!

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

“So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound-think of it-for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath.” Luke 13:16

These are the words of Jesus to the ruler of the synagogue who spoke indignantly when Jesus healed the woman who was bent over for eighteen years. She was a devout lady who attended the synagogue regularly and was ignorant of what has been happening around her because she could not raise herself up. I am sure she did not know that Jesus was at the synagogue nor did she recognize that it was Jesus calling her to be healed.

As usual, Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the affliction of the woman. He touched her and in an instant she was healed of her infirmity. The people at the synagogue must have marveled at the miracle done by Jesus. Oh! What a joy it would have been for the woman and the people around her. In Jesus’ own words we find that He did not bind her but Satan bound her for eighteen years. Please do not be deceived, it is Satan who brings bondages and diseases in our lives and unfortunately all the blame goes to Jesus the supernatural healer. Isn’t that contradictory? In James 3:11 it says, “Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?”

The ruler responded to the miracle with indignation when all of a sudden the attention was on Jesus healing on a Sabbath. The ruler was not at all bothered about healing the woman. He was only concerned about following traditions. Jesus replies that this woman being a daughter of Abraham is more precious to the Kingdom of God and is eligible for all the blessings which God promised Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3.

Beloved, Jesus has already paid the price for your healing as we read in Isaiah 53:5 “And by His stripes we are healed.”

Be Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

So Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 1Samuel 3:19

What a magnificent man of God who was totally dedicated to the Lord’s ministry and had his ears tuned to the Lord at all times. God desires such people during these days that act according to His perfect will. The Lord blessed Hannah with Samuel because of her prayers in anguish. Hannah was blessed with five more children when she dedicated Samuel to the Lord.

Prophet Samuel listened and obeyed the Lord in every instant. His first prophecy came against Eli, the man of God who was to be replaced due to his corrupt son’s irreverence and wickedness towards God. Eli used to hear from the Lord in earlier days as he directs Samuel to respond to the Lord as in 1Samuel 3:8-9.

Eli received two prophecies from the Lord for rectification and repentance. The first prophecy was almost a strict word of warning against the dishonor and scorn made by Eli and his sons toward the Lord. It has always amazed me the way Eli responded to the prophecy from Prophet Samuel by saying, “It is the Lord. Let Him do what seems good to Him.” (1Samuel 3:18) Repentance was far from him which made this cold statement.

Sad to say, over the years his eyes became dim and his ears were faint to hear from the Lord as we read in 1Samuel 3:1 that there was no revelation during the days of Eli. It was at this point God wanted to replace Eli for Samuel. In 1Samuel 2:35 we read “Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.”

These are the days when God is going to replace many Eli(s) who have lost their vision and have turned deaf to God with men and women of God who are willing to do exactly what is in His heart. So let us keep the fire of the Holy Spirit burning within us and do His will and be a blessing to the world.

Be Blessed!
